At Safari Kid, we understand that Summer is the best time in a child's life. Our summer programs offer children a great balance of academics, sports, making friends and learning new skills in a fun and nurtured environment.
For this Summer, our research team has worked with our teachers and curriculum developers to design the best of all activities for your child. Your child will build and program Lego robots, learn programming, design and print 3D models, participate in our Star Wars STEM program, compete in our Safari Olympics, go camping, learn about space travel, visit Facebook, Google and Tesla and create business plans at our Carnival to raise money for charity. Below you will find a brief description of activities offered for 3rd Grades and up. But please call the location nearest you soon and register now as seats are filling up fast!!

OlympicsIn the Olympics, students will be taken to the park and will take part in heats (trials) of races like sprint, hurdles, lemon-on-the-spoon, 3-legged race, and other individual and team-relay races. The top contenders in each category will take part in the grand finale and the winners will be awarded in a presentation ceremony. Children will be taught about the history of ancient and modern Olympics and will be shown videos of some popular moments in Olympic history. Children will be educated how participation is more important than winning.

EV3 Building / ProgrammingStudents will be taught how to make a simple robot with pieces from the Lego Mindstorms EV3 set. The students will then create basic EV3 programs on Lego Mindstorms software using drag-and-drop sensor, movement and logic blocks. Students will download these programs onto the robot and will execute them. These programs will make the robot move, turn and sense in order to accomplish tasks. Students will learn Core Values including collaboration and cooperation.

Star Wars StemIn Star Wars STEM, students will do Star Wars related educational activities that will cover topics including symmetry, arts and crafts, arithmetic, making board games, writing, making costumes and weapons, and circuitry and science experiments.

3-D Design / PrintingUsing TinkerCad, students will learn how to create geometric shapes using tools such as group, resize, and reshape, and how to combine geometric shapes to create 3-D models. The students’ creations can then be 3-D printed or downloaded on Thingverse or Minecraft.

Scratch ProgrammingScratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. Students will start with learning to create a simple sprite and progressively acquire more advanced skills. They learn the process of building cartoon animations and games like Ping Pong and Mini Mario in Scratch.

Space and AstronomyChildren will explore the amazing world of space and astronomy with cool activities, interesting facts, challenging quizzes and discussions on topics such as the scale of the universe, stars, black holes and galaxies. Children will learn about space travel, and will learn what it takes to be an astronaut. They will be taught about some important milestones in mankind’s exploration of space and about upcoming plans to explore new frontiers.

Leader's AcademyThis week’s theme is all about leadership, entrepreneurship, team work etc. They will learn about important facets of leadership and how to inculcate leadership qualities in themselves. Children will be visiting 3 major business campuses (e.g. Google, Facebook, Intel, Tesla) to understand how these companies work. They will learn how young entrepreneurs started and developed these companies into what they are today. They will take the tour of the campus and will talk to a leader of the company. The last day children will be asked to share their experiences through a group presentation like a skit.

CarnivalChildren will spend the entire week preparing for the carnival and making goods to sell such as jewelry, artwork, and tickets to play games. On Friday, the carnival will be open to parents and the students will sell the objects they made. Kids will learn skills including unit pricing, production process, handling money, marketing and working together. Afterward, all the carnival earnings will be donated to a charity.

Theme Activities (Once a Week)Field Trips:
On each Friday, children will go on a field trip that will be matched to that week’s theme. Geography: Every week, children will learn the aspects of a country, including culture, currency, food, clothing, history, location, and language. Students will be given activities like crosswords and word searches based to the week’s country. They will be taught common words of that country’s language. Fun Facts: The fun facts activity is an interactive activity for kids where they will be exposed to lots of fun facts about the week’s theme. Students will also get a chance to share facts they know and to expand their knowledge about the weekly subject. Current Affairs: Once a week, children will learn the latest news items about the week’s activity such as new inventions, trends, or researches. Group Discussion: In the group discussion, children will be divided into teams and will debate about a topic connected or related to the weekly activity. Students will learn how to present a strong argument, and how to evaluate whether an argument is strong or weak. Other Activities: Young Chef, Theater, Public Speaking, Spelling Bee, Math, English, Arts & Craft, Science, Bollywood Dance, Board Games, and Talent Show |
